Well, I guess crazy pays off.

On Tuesday, I photographed not one, but two photographers. These are not just some bootleg, amateur photographers, these are pros--The McCardells. These are people that I have done some work for, and who I look to for inspiration and information. The fact that they are photographers was enough to have the pressure on the rise, but this was also a maternity session for their very first child. Wow, I was honored to be able to photograph them. We always have a good time, and we had a great time on Tuesday.

Important to me at least, they really seem to like the images, and have given me permission to post some. Check them out.

This is a good example of overcoming the pressure with preparation and just trusting what you know and what you do. Although I am a lawyer by training, photography is also what I do.

Are you crazy?

Man, I must love punishment. Today, not only did I photography a pregnant lady, but I photographed a pregnant lady who is a photographer and is married to a photographer. Wow, talking about pressure in a portrait session, but they are great people and we had a good time. I have finished the edits on the images, so we'll see if they give approval for the upload of a few of the images.

Am I crazy?

Did I past the pressure packed test? I hope so as I saw several images that I really liked.

Stay tuned!

Familiar Face--New Equipment

Every photographer needs a muse or at least a model who is willing to pose at the drop of a dime. Well America, meet Jessica. Jessica first brought her little sister from Big Brothers/Big Sisters to my studio back in the spring, and she has been coming every since. She has been back a few times to serve as my muse when I have gotten new equipment. She has been back with all the women in her family and even recommended family friends to my studio.
These images are from yesterday when she allowed me to photograph her using my new Alienbee Beauty dish. I think we had fun. I learned how to work with the new dish, and I think we got some great images.
Check out all of Jessica's session at www.jharrisphotography.net/slideshows/Jessica3
Happy Thanksgiving.

Scared Money Doesn't Make None! What?

Well, they say that if you are scared with your money, then you will not make any money. Well, check out my new orange backdrop and the use of my new 86 inch parabolic umbrella. Basically, I spent some money to continue to add variety in backdrops and lighting options for my clients. I think this orange will make a great fall backdrop.

Let me know what you think.

Still Here

It has been a while since I have blogged, but I am still here. Stay tuned for some new images from everything from images from Las Vegas to images using my new orange backdrop and 86 inch parabolic umbrella. That's right 86 inch umbrella. Yes, my studio is large enough for that umbrella.

Stay tuned.

Rachel: A Real Heel

Well, I have photographed everything from food to Duke fans, but today I had the real pleasure of photographing someone who really knows what UNC stands for--University of National Champions. Everyone meet Rachel. She is a budding young journalist attending the University of Thrill on the Hill.

I enjoyed her session today because I think she has taken photos professionally or something as she was able to anticipate my next posing idea. Professional or not, it was a pleasure, and I wish her well on the Hill.

Duke v. UNC

Normally, I don't like anything that even resembles Duke University especially anything related to their basketball team. Heck, I don't think I have more than two friends that went to Duke, and those two I knew from high school. I couldn't dump them just because they went to Duke, could I? Trust me, I thought about it.

Well, I have found someone with Duke connections that I really enjoyed meeting--my latest portrait model. UNC fans and others meet Amy--a 2009 graduate of that school in Durham. Even Dookies deserve, what I think are good images.

Amy is an aspiring attorney, and the good news is that she is considering coming over to the Carolina Blue by attending the UNC School of Law. Whew, I hope she gets it right.

Friendship

We all have met people that have come into our lives for a certain period of time, and then they exit as quickly as they entered. Few of us have a bunch of people that we call friends that we have known for years. Well, Chris Miller is a person that became a friend in 1990, and continues to be a friend. More than just a friend, Chris Miller is a fraternity brother and the person that I have to chosen to take care of the health of my daughters. Dr. Chris Miller always goes beyond the call of duty to make sure my little treasures get the best care. Chris and his lovely wife Claudia have also selected me on a professional level to be one of the photographers at their wedding reception in Charleston, SC. I take my profession seriously, but you can tell that Chris and I go way back to the Great Hall at UNC because I had to cut a dance move or two at the end of his reception. Thanks Chris for being a friend and trusting me with your images from your big day. Coming Up!

Well, the end of this week appears to be shaping up nicely from a photography standpoint. I am almost finished editing the wedding from the Allan Johnson and Eula Aiken wedding from May 23, 2009 at the Revolution Mill. I think that is a pretty good turnaround on delivering over 300 images from their wedding day. Their package calls for less images, but I always strive to tell the story even if it means providing more images with no additional compensation. I am a business man, but I am also a storyteller.

I also have a portrait session scheduled for Thursday and for Saturday morning. Stay tuned for some exciting images from my portrait sessions on Thursday and Saturday. As always, I am hoping that the images will be pleasing to the subjects and the readers.

Take care!

Photography Marathon

If you don't think photography is a workout, then try carrying two cameras, lenses and other accessories for eight (8) hours during a wedding. Well, I just got in from doing a wedding with Jonathan McCardell in High Point, NC with the wedding reception in Thomasville, NC. It is always great to work with other photographers, and I learned something new tonight that might help my images during a reception. Next weekend, I will be in action again with Renee McCardell. Don't take photographers lightly, this is a serious profession just like practicing medicine or practicing law.

Lady in the Mask

Well, I promised to reveal the mystery Superhero to you today, and here she is--Laura Koshel an interior designer from the Triangle area. To learn more about her and her ability to help you with your residential design woes, please check out http://local.decoratingden.com/lkoshel/aboutme.html. And by the way, she is no villain!

The Masked Superhero

Who says that there aren't real superheroes anymore? Well, I had the opportunity to photograph this masked lady on Friday, and we had a great time.

Check with me tomorrow to see who this masked lady really is.

Is she a villain or a sweetie? You decide.

The Weekend

The photography weekend kicks off tomorrow with a portrait session in the studio, and continues on Saturday with a portrait session of some twins. Twins will be a new addition to the portfolio. Saturday will be tapped off with an eight hour wedding with Jonathan McCardell of McCardell Photography. I always look forward to working with great photographers just to see their vision for weddings and to hopefully learn something. Oh but anytime I shoot, I learn something.

Have a good weekend.

Rheva volunteered for a portrait session and I think we both had a great time.
